Furman Elite Mile director adds two collegiate runners

 

Furman Elite Mile coordinator Mickey McCauley announced the addition of two college runners Tuesday morning.

 

Adam Van Nortwick of Appalachian State University and Furman University sophomore Patrick Morgan join the field, that now consists of 11 runners.

 

The Elite Mile will be held in conjunction with the Furman Invitational and Furman 5k, called "Track Extravaganza" weekend.

 

McCauley supplied the following information.

 

Adam Van Nortwick of Appalachian State; Has personal best times as follows; 800m (1:52.34), 1,500m (3:47.63), indoor mile (4:07.4 2007). Van Nortwick, a senior from Saranac Lake, N.Y., earned the men’s Most Outstanding Track Performer at the SoCon 2007 Indoor Track and Field Championships as he led Appalachian to its 15th all-time team championship. Van Nortwick placed first in the mile run with a time of 4:14.34 and in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:34. He also claimed second place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.44.

 

Patrick Morgan (Danville, Ky.), a Furman University sophomore, was second in the So-Con 2006 cross country championships. Morgan was named to the All-SoCon team for his second place finish in the 800m at the 2006 outdoor Southern Conference Championships. Patrick has a personal best time of 1:52.37 in the 800 meters.
