Elite Tune-Up Registration Closes Wednesday at Midnight

The girls' Border Clash 800 features a rematch of the race at Taco Bell, only with even more top-flight mid-distance girls, and the boys' race is just as loaded.

Registration is open through Wednesday at midnight for the Elite Tune-Up, held on June 6th at Marvin Ridge. This is the meet that has been held at Bishop McGuinness since 2009, and it serves many purposes: a tune-up for New Balance Nationals in two weeks, a final chance at a PR before offseason training begins, or just another opportunity for those who love to compete. High school athletes of any ability level are welcome at the meet, and there is also a 5K that is open to all ages. Registration is online through MileSplit, and athletes can be entered by their parents or by their coach. Since the official high school season has ended, all athletes will be listed as unattached in the results, unless registered under a club team name.

Within the larger meet, a small group of elite North Carolina runners will take on their counterparts from South Carolina in two Border Clash races: the 800 and the Mile. These will be scored by state, and we hope to expand it to Georgia and Tennessee in the future. The Border Clash races will be separate sections within the Elite Tune-Up, and will include the top 8-12 athletes that are registered along with the recruited competitors. These races are a new addition to a meet that has a long tradition of producing top performances, from sub-1:50 800's to national-leading 100 and 200 times. This year's meet will be no different, as the entries are dotted with some of the state's best. Don't miss out - register now!

(Schedule & Registration)

To Register as an Unattached Individual (for parents and athletes):

  • Go to your athlete profile and claim it (if you have done this before, you don't have to do it again - it's a one-time thing).
    • You can find your athlete profile on your team's page, through the rankings, or by using the search tool in the upper right of any NCRunners page.
  • Once you have claimed, go to the calendar page and find the meet. Click on the green Enter Online Now bar.
  • Select "Enter Individual" and follow the instructions from there.

To Register a Team (for coaches):

  • Use the same procedures as you would for entering any other meet, such as NCHSAA regionals.
  • You do not have to change your team's name (we will do that), but you can enter a nickname or fictitious, fun club name on the contact information step of the registration process.
  • Click Here for an online registration tutorial for coaches
