Salute to seniors: Southside Christian's Maddie Buddenberg

What was your most memorable race/competition?
The 3200 at the state track meet was most memorable. I got 1st and was not expecting that.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
My biggest competition was at the region track meet. There were so many of us very close to getting the top four spots and I ended up getting my PR.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
Being the state champion in the 3200 definitely stands out the most.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
I didn't start running until my junior year, so I wish I would've started earlier.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Being a new runner, I had to quickly learn that there will always be pain. I had to get through shin splints during my first track season.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss running with my amazing team.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
For every race I have always told myself to not have any excuses afterwards.

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals?
My coaches have always pushed me harder and encouraged me to do my best.

What are your college plans?
I will be running cross country and track for Anderson University while pursuing a major in Nursing.

Shout-outs?
Coach (Tim) Gibbons who has taught me so much. My great teammates who have been so sweet and encouraging.
