Spring Valley track and field coach John Jones has been named 2015 national track and field Coach of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA), the SCTCCCA told scrunners.com.
Jones is in his 36th year coaching and was inducted into the SCTCCCA Hall of Fame in 2015.
Jones is the only track and field coach to receive the honor from the state, according to the SCTCCCA press release.
Jones’ ‘old-school’ approach working at Spring Valley
Jones was named National Track and Field Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) in 2013.
Jones will receive the honor tonight during halftime of a home football game.
