Several state teams are traveling to McAlpine Park for the Providence Invitational, the first of two meets (Wendy's Invitational) used to preview the course and competition before Foot Locker South in November.
Ben Gilman of Hilton Head and brother Sam are two runners to watch to be near the front of the pack Saturday. Dolan Owens of James Island can also be in the front pack.
NCRunners predicts the team competition will include chances for top finishes by in-state Eastside, Hilton Head and Riverside. 
On the girls side look for Mallory Liggett of Hilton Head and Madison Ellis of Eastside look to be in the mix of top runners. Riverside girls won't have a full team in Charlotte this weekend, ncrunners reported.

WNC preview - Wynn Johnson (Dorman) comes in with the fastest personal best in the field of 15:40. He also has a 3200 personal best of 9:18 where he took the win at the Taco Bell Classic last season.
