SCTCCCA donates $500 to scrunners

The South Carolina Track and Cross Country Association officers voted in July to donate $500 to scrunners.com, a MileSplit.us member to assist in covering the sports of cross country and track and field.

Association president Danny Brooks proposed the donation, according to a statement released from the organization.

Statement from the association:
The association has been very fortunate that its events have been generating good revenue in these lean times, and during the officer's meeting, we were discussing what we would like to do with some of the money in our account. We voted to increase our donation to the SCACA scholarship fund to the level of $2,000. This scholarship fund provides scholarships to the children of coaches.

SCTCCCA President Danny Brooks then suggested that we consider giving a gift of $500 to scrunners.com in care of John Olson for the service his Web site provides to track and cross country in South Carolina. The association membership realizes that operating a statewide Web site can be a costly endeavor, given increasing transportation and technology costs. It is hoped that this donation will enable John to continue to improve coverage for these two sports.

"We greatly appreciate the donation from the association and look forward to the upcoming season and future as we continue to expand coverage and stay up-to-date with technology and the speed of the Internet world," scrunners.com webmaster John Olson said in a statement. "The association has always worked with scrunners.com in gathering information and results concerning the sport. We look forward to working more (with them) in the future."
