The first annual Eye Opener dinner, hosted by USC Upstate, will feature Olympian Billy Mills.
The pasta dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 at in USC Upstate's Campus Life Building in the third floor ballroom.
Seating is limited to the first 300 individuals who register, according to meet director Jack Todd.
"It means the world to me to have Billy Mills coming to Spartanburg," said Todd. "Not only was he a great runner, he has also proven himself in life. We have always tried to make the Eye Opener more than simply a cross country race, but rather a festival of running. Mr. Mills' appearance fits with this philosophy perfectly.
"Thank you to (USC Upstate) coach Jimmy Stephens and his staff for arranging this once in a lifetime opportunity," Todd said.
