Chapin alumnus Luke Lovelace returned to South Carolina for the Winthrop Invitational Saturday.
The freshman at Louisville placed third in the gold division and second for the Cardinals, covering the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 11 seconds.
The Cardinals finished first in team standings with 23 points.
