Tyrese Cooper Sizzles To New Sophomore Class Record In The 200m

Tyrese Cooper made history -- again -- by going a wind legal 20.55 seconds on Saturday at the Bob Hayes Invitational, breaking the meet record of 20.63 by UGA standout Kendal Williams set in 2014.

But it was also a new sophomore class national record, beating newly turned Adidas professional Noah Lyles, who clocked a time of 20.71 back in 2014.

Cooper already owns the freshman class national record in the 200m (20.62) as well as the freshman class record in the 400 (45.23).

The Miami Norland sophomore already owned the Bob Hayes meet record in 2016 and came away with a time of 46.16 seconds on Saturday, breaking his previous mark by over three-tenths.

What does the future hold for Cooper?  One thing we do know is fast times take place every time he hits the track and records always seem to be in jeopardy.

Elsewhere at the Bob Hayes Invitational, there were four US No. 1 performances, two top 25 all-time efforts and 172 national elite performances. For more, check the links below.
