Eleven hundred and 93 athletes made up of 119 teams are scheduled to compete in Saturday's South Carolina High School League Championships at Sandhills Research Center in Columbia. The top 15 finishers in each race are named all state.  Editor's note: Article under development.

Class AAA girls start of the day at 9 a.m., a switch from last season were Class A and AA teams competed first. 

A look at Class AAA girls (9 a.m.)

Hilton Head girls are the favorite, based on team database scoring, to capture the team title.

A close battle may take place for second with Daniel and Mann, led by senior twins Kate and Emma Borowicz.

Kate, also in contention for the individual state title has her eyes on top competitors Tameka Jackson (Seneca) and Sinead Haughey (Daniel).

Haughey won the title in 2007 with Kate winning in 2006 and 2005.

Class AAA boys start at 9:30 followed by 10 a.m. for Class AAAA girls and 10:30 a.m. for boys.

A look at Class AAA boys (9:30 a.m.)

Hilton Head and Wade Hampton look to be top contenders for the team title, not counting out Riverside, scored third in the team scores database.

Individually, Woodmont junior Aaron Ramirez is making a comeback as the favorite following an early season injury. Other contenders for the individual title also include Hilton Head's Jack Felix, Blue Ridge's Jordan Plumblee and Wade Hampton's Kyle Keene.

Chapin graduate Luke Lovelace won the 2007 individual title, with Mann taking the team title.

A look at Class AAAA girls (10 a.m.)

Different for Class AAAA competition this year is qualifying through Upper, Middle and Lower State meets, instead of using a regional system. 

Spartanburg eighth grader Evie Tate leads the Vikings to a no. 1 team database score with Dutch Fork and Mauldin also contenders for top team places. 

Four seconds separate Ridge View senior Sierra Henderson from Rock Hill senior Hannah Robinson in a battle for the individual title. 

Seven Class AAAA girls have run under 19 minutes this season.

Northwestern graduate Mary Kate DuBard sealed the individual win in 2007 with Mauldin girls taking the team title.

A look at Class AAAA boys (10:30 a.m.)

Spring Valley boys look to be favorite for the team title Saturday with competition coming from Dorman and defending champions Wando. 

Fort Mill freshman Mark Blackmon and Dorman junior Brandon Easler look to be top contenders for the individual title Saturday.

Also in contention are Wando teammates Josh Fitts and Timothy Tyler. Ridge View sophomore David Jennings also will be vying for a top finish spot. 

Blackmon finished first in 2007 and Wando boys sealed the team win.

Awards for the morning portion is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Class A boys, in their third separate race from Class AA, resume state competition at 11:30 a.m. The Class A/AA combined girls race starts at noon followed by Class AA boys at 12:30 and awards at 1 p.m.

A look at Class A boys (11:30 a.m.)

Landrum boys are entering Saturday's competition with top chances for the team title. Also in contention are Governor's School and Christ Church. 

Academic Magnet senior Allan DaPore will look to defend his title with competition from Governor School's Andrew Wentzel and Ninety-Six's Judd Larkins, all running sub 18 this season.

DaPore also captured the individual title in 2006, the first year of the Class A boys meet. 

Christ Church boys won the team title in 2007.

A look at Class A/AA girls (12 p.m.)

Class A Christ Church girls look to be a top team competitor in the Class A/AA team competition. Team contenders include defending champions Bishop England, Landrum and Pelion. 

Christ Church eighth grade runner Caroline Jennings has a sub 19:20 5,000-meter run for the season, with Pelion's Nevada Minard and defending champion Jeanne Stroud of Bishop vying for top spots.

A look at Class AA boys (12:30 p.m.)

Bishop England looks to be the team favorite for Saturday, but not without a battle from defending champions Pendleton. 

Bishop England senior A.J. Fitzsimmons has a 25 second gap on Pendleton's Chris Dehondt, making him the favorite for the individual Class AA boys title.

Also in contention for a top spot is Pendleton senior Kyle Nowlin.

Broome graduate Stefan Shealy was the individual champion in 2007.
