Former NBA Great Allan Houston Explains His Track Background

Allan Houston's five fundamental tips for youth athletes are as follows: 

1. Faith

"Being able to have confidence and knowing who you are and what your strengths are and where you can have impact."

2. Integrity

"Being able to do things the right way and to understand the basic fundamentals of the right way to do things and the wrong way to do things. Being coachable, being able to listen to what those things are."

3. Sacrifice

"Being able to commit and give yourself to the sport. But not only to the sport but to those around you and to something that's bigger than you. 

4. Leadership

"It's something track and field brings, especially here, because when you're sitting on that stand, now you have a responsibility, you have a responsibility to do it every single day and every single night."

5. Legacy

"It's the impact you have, whether it's one possession in basketball or one second in track and field. You still have an impact in a split second."
