Former USATF state president Stephens seeks interest for Level 1 School

Former USATF state president Jimmy Stephens announced today the idea to bring a Level 1 School to USC Upstate in Spartanburg, where Stephens serves as head track and field coach.

Stephens is currently serving as open/masters chair for the association.

"We would have some top instructors teaching the basics of track and field," said Stephens. "We need to gauge interest to make a push to USATF to allow us to host this event. Please let us know if you or your coaches would be interested."

Stephens mentioned he is interested in hosting the school in July and wants to see if there is enough interest.  He added the school is in the preliminary stages.

"If we can't get more than 40 people we would lose money," he said.
