Wando's Timothy Tyler prepares for second Taco Bell Classic

Wando sophomore Timothy Tyler talks about competing in his second Taco Bell Classic. Tyler is entered in the 3200-meter run fast section.

scrunners: How is your season going?
tyler: My season is going very well. I was sick at the beginning of the season and missed a few workouts that hurt me for the first few meets. As the season has progressed I have been feeling better and my times have been getting faster. The past few weeks I have been training well and getting back into race shape. Last week at the Father Kelly Classic, I finally felt strong as I raced.

scrunners: What are wanting to achieve this weekend?
tyler: I am hoping to be around 9:45 in the 3200 this weekend and try to stay in a pack for most of the race.

scrunners: How do you see Wando doing as a team at the meet?
tyler: We are only taking a few of our top athletes up to the meet. Zach Hart and David Melton are two of the top competitors in the state in the pole vault so they should do very well. Eric Powers will be competing in the 800-meter run, mile, and 3200-meter relay at the meet and should be near the top for each event. Josh Fitts should also competitive in the 3200. Some more athletes competing are John Singleton in the 400-meter dash and 110 hurdles, Dez Venning in the discus, Sean Link in the 400, Ben Murray in the 4x800 and 800, and Ethan Ruckle in the mile.

scrunners: What does it mean to to you to be competing in the Taco Bell Classic?
tyler: I'm really excited to be competing in the meet because its one of the biggest meets in the southeast and has some of the best competition in the southeast as well.

scrunners: How do you feel this meet will prepare you for the rest of the season?
tyler: This meet will definitely show how runners from other states will compare with runners from South Carolina. There will be much more competition at this meet than at state for S.C.

scrunners: How many years have you competed in the Taco Bell meet?
tyler: This will be my second year competing at the meet.

scrunners: How do you want to remember the Taco Bell meet?
tyler: I would like to run a decent time in the race and be in the middle of the pack rather than towards the end.
