Cheraw's Peques wins fourth state pole vault title

Cheraw senior Jaquon Peques won his fourth consecutive state pole vault title today at Lower Richland during the Class AA boys makeup of the event.

The event was postponed Saturday due to inclement weather in Hopkins.

Cheraw coach Jack VanDeman told scrunners.com via telephone the event has concluded and Peques cleared 14 feet, six inches.

VanDeman told scrunners.com following Peques clearing the winning mark he went for 15 feet, six inches.

"He was over it, just kept hitting it on the way down," said VanDeman.
