Lorain's Zion Cross Commits To The University Of Akron

Lorain's Zion Cross shown competing during the 2016 outdoor season.

One of Ohio's top sprinters has announced his plans about who he'll be lining up for at the college level.  Zion Cross will represent the track team at the University of Akron next year.  The 2016 D1 100m State Champion shared his news via Twitter.

Cross will add considerable depth to a program that'll boast a strong Ohio contingent.  Joining him will be in-coming freshmen Sam Janson (Carroll), Zac Robinson (Pickerington Central) and Sara Foster (St. Vincent-St. Mary).  The Lorain athlete has excelled in the sprint events throughout his high school career and he'll be looking to add to his state championship collection during his senior outdoor campaign.

MileSplit Ohio tracked down Zion to hear his perspective on this development:

I'm excited to be a part of one of the top track programs in Ohio and I want to continue to make history during my college career.  I'm looking forward to training with all of the great runners on the team and above all, I need to thank the man above for the opportunity to compete at the next level.  I would love to make it to the NCAA Nationals and hopefully take my times down to under 10 in the 100m and to low 20 in the 200m.

Zion Cross intends on achieving big goals during his time at the University of Akron.
