Angelina Blackmon signed a National Letter of Intent with North Carolina State University (Raleigh, N.C.) earlier this week. Blackmon, a senior at Northwestern has the 2004 girls 1600-meter fastest time of 5:02.92 in South Carolina.

Blackmon also holds the second fastest 3200 South Carolina time of 10:52.61 for 2004.

Blackmon finished with the fastest female time in South Carolina at the Footlocker South Region cross-country meet after finishing second overall in the girls seeded event. Blackmon ran a time of 17:42 at the region meet, held at McAlpine Park in Charlotte. Blackmon finished first at the 2003 3-4A Region cross-country meet with a 2003 South Carolina fastest time of 17:25. Blackmon was one of two South Carolina individual to compete at the 2003 Footlocker Nationals.

As an eighth grader Blackmon captured the 4A state cross-country championship title.

"Angelina has been a wonderful ambassador for our program and we are extremely proud of her," said Head Coach Calvin Hudgins. "I know that she will do well at NC State. She is the perfect example of what happens when hard work and passion come together."

Blackmon is planning on majoring in biology, them moving into pre-med.

NC State is a D-I member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Continuing the tradition for the Blackmon's after Angelina graduates from Northwestern is her sister Tiayonna.

Prior to signing a track and cross-country scholarship at NC State, Blackmon had interests in South Carolina, Florida and Pittsburgh.
