Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston cross country program announced their 2009 schedule on Monday. The Cougars will participate in seven events throughout the course of the season.

"We should see quite a bit of conference competition with this schedule," said head coach Amy Seago. "Our goal is to improve our overall finish at the Southern Conference Championships and we think the best way to accomplish that is to see our competition ahead of time."

The Cougars open their 2009 season at the Eye Opener hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C., on Sept. 5th. The next week, (Sept. 12), they travel to the Elon Invitational in Elon, N.C. Elon will also host the Southern Conference Championships on Oct. 31st.

On Sept. 26th, CofC will run at The Citadel Invitational, where the men's squad registered their best finish of the season last year (second), followed by a trip to the Charlotte Invitational in Charlotte, N.C on Oct. 2nd.

The Cougars finish the season competing at the Covered Bridge Open on the campus of Appalachian St. on Oct. 16, the SoCon Championships and at the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Nov. 14th in Louisville, Ky.
