PENDLETON -- Pendleton track star Jasmin Stowers recently signed a national letter of intent with Louisiana State University. She has received a full athletic scholarship.

"It feels great," Stowers said after she signed. "It was very special to me to have my father and all my family here to support me. . . . [My parents] have sacrificed a lot for me; my dad’s in the Army so he has to go to camp all the time. Having him here supporting me means a lot."

She is looking forward to working with LSU’s coaching staff. Several Tiger coaches have trained Olympic athletes, she said.

The highlight of her visit to LSU was "being around the track team and learning about them and how their program works."

"[LSU] has a great environment," Stowers said. "I’m ready to go to school."
