scrunners: Following the 2009 outdoor season, what kind of break did to you take?
sanders: After the outdoor season of 2009 I took a two week break just to have time to myself and take some time away from the track. The time I had off I spent time with friends and family and tried to stay as close to my diet as I could. I stayed disciplinded as I could so when I started back training it wouldn't be such a challenge to get back where I needed to be.

scrunners: In the fall, what activities do you do and when do you start preparing for track season and how?
sanders: During the fall I was commited to training, my diet wasn't as strict as during the season but I stayed away from foods that would affect my running abilities. My off season training was whatever my coach had me to do I didn't really have questions about what I was doing I just knew it was to make me better so I put forth the effort to get it done.

scrunners: Has anything changed this training season compared to last year?
sanders: This season my training cycle is somewhat like the same thing's I did last year. My coaches set up what I do in practice and I just do the work. Compared to last season my training isn't severly different, but my workouts change as my body changes so whatever I do is what my body is prepared for.

scrunners: What did you think of your 10.2h at the Viking Relays and having a number one time in the nation (editor's note: top in nation on Saturday)?
sanders: I thought I ran a good race, the work was done in practice to get the results that I had. Going into the race I felt great there was no pressure going into the race I just knew I had to put the race together to come out on top. So I did what i had to do and I ran the race of my life. Having the nations leading time is an amazing and exciting accomplishment it makes me proud as well as my coaches proud. It wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for God and my coaches.

scrunners: What kind of goals do you see yourself achieving this year?
sanders: My goals for the high school season are similar to the ones from last year. I want to win state in the 100 and 200 again this year. The state record is also one of my goals for this year in both the 100 and 200. High school outdoor nationals is also a goal for me this year. So I plan on working with my coaches to meet my goals for the 2010 season.

scrunners: What's it like for you on the starting line?
sanders: On the starting line I'm in my zone nothing is on my mind but getting down the track. I know that I'm the only person that I can control in the race so I focus on what I can do not what the other runners can do.

scrunners: What event do you prefer and why?
sanders: I really don't have a favorite race, everyone says that the 200 is my favorite race but that just happens to be the race i have a better time in. So I can't say what my favorite because I don't have one.

scrunners: What do you see Dreher achieving as a team?
sanders: Dreher's track team's limit this year is the stars. I see our team at the state meet very strong. In practice we all work hard and it will pay off. I feel that we have an amazing team this year and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. The boys team and girls team both are great and have alot of potential. I know that the coaches are proud of our hard work in practice and our discipline at the meets. We represent the Blue Devils prouldy and I love our team, so like I said the stars are the limit. GO BLUE DEVILS!!!!!!
