Johnson:Four years at Byrnes five total.
SCRunners.com: Do you remember when and what was your first ever race?
Johnson: Race for the Grasshopper in 1999 (5k). I ran a 24:55.
SCRunners.com: Who or what made you start running?
Johnson: My 5th grade teacher, Robert Wooten. He got me into road racing and the running club at my school.
SCRunners.com: How far would like to go with running?
Johnson: I want to run in college, and for the rest of my life.
SCRunners.com: Do you have your own personal running rival?
Johnson: Not really, it was Meg Morrison (Spartanburg) in the 800...not anymore.
SCRunners.com: When does the competition and intensity rise with you and your rival?
Johnson: Track, in the 800.
SCRunners.com: Does Byrnes XC and T&F team have a rival?
Johnson: For the girls, its Spartanburg.
SCRunners.com: When does Byrnes feel the most intensity of competition against the rival?
Johnson: Anytime we race them.
SCRunners.com: What would you say is your favorite road race, xc meet, and track & field meet?
Johnson: My favorite place to have an xc meet is Sandhills, as far as track goes...its all the same.
SCRunners.com: Do you have a favorite pre race song or cd that you listen to?
Johnson: The Tomb Raider soundtrack, or Blink 182.
SCRunners.com: What is your favorite meal before a race?
Johnson: Bagles and bananas!
SCRunners.com: Do you think that having pre race dinners watching movies helps to unite teams?
Johnson: Dinners are cool, but I stay away from movies the night before. I\'ve never had good luck with that.
SCRunners.com: How excited were you with your 8th place finish and time of 19:48.9 this year at the 4A State Meet as a sophomore?
Johnson: 8th place was cool, I just wish my time could have been a little faster.
SCRunners.com: With track coming up, do you know what event or events you would like to concentrate on?
Johnson: 800 METERS!
SCRunners.com: If you could do one thing in life what would it be?
Johnson: Fall in love and have a family of my own. That\'s simple enough.
SCRunners.com: What would you like to see happen with South Carolina high school running in the upcoming years and how do you think it can be done?
Johnson: I\'d like to see some pure talent. South Carolina needs to be a threat.
