Christ Church's Rodney Adamee nominated to SCTCCCA Hall of Fame

Awards presented to athletes, coaches at SCTCCCA summer track and field meeting

GREENVILLE -- The South Carolina Track and Cross Country Association announced Christ Church coach and Class A association vice president Rodney Adamee as hall of fame inductee.

Adamee will be inducted at the SCTCCCA Coaches Classic meet Sept. 10 in Columbia.

The association presented awards to coaches of three athletes that broke state track and field records in May at the association's summer track and field meeting.

The records broken are Xylina McDaniel (Spring Valley, Shot put-44-8), Chris Brown (Hanahan, Triple jump-51-2), Leanna Morrison (Berkeley, 400 hurdles-1:00.69).

The athletes will receive awards in front of classmates at the school they attend.

John Javis (Eau Claire, Class AA vice president) presented the awards with the help of association president Eric Cummings.

Coach of the Year awards were presented to Joe Call (Summerville, AAAA girls), George Moss (Mann), Jeff Buys (Dorman, AAAA boys), Steve Mullinax (Fort Mill, AAA girls), Blake Bishop (Hilton Head, AAA boys), David Morbitzer (Hanahan, AA boys), Stevie Phillips (Johnsonville, A girls), Russell Mahaffey (Landrum, A boys).

Javis and Michael Steward (Lower Richland, Class AAA vice president) presented the awards to fellow coaches.

The winter meeting is scheduled for Jan. 14 in Columbia.
