Okay I made my boys Dark Horse Picks already and so now its time to do the girls Dark Horses Picks. These are my picks that i believe can and will turn some heads this year and surprise some people and do some big things this year but they arent talked about a lot or making headlines (not necessarily win but do really good). Im only going to do four for the sake of time and you guys give me some people you think could also be potential dark horses this year for cross country. So these are my four Dark horse picks for this upcoming cross country season. Tell me what you think and name some others.
Hope Whisman and Amelia Syfert (Dutch Fork)- These two are Dutch Forks one two punch who if they are at their best could be a really good duo. They arent looked at that much and talked about a whole lot but these two are really good. Syfert finished in 24th at state last year and could defenitely be an all state runner this year by coming in the top 15, Its her last year and im sure she wants to go out with a bang. She has championship experience already (2011 4A 4x8 champion) and will use that experience in this years cross country season. Whisamn finished 40th at state last year but it was because she had an off race and if she would have had a good race she probably would have been in the 15-20 range because she usually is a consistent under 20:00 runner. Dutch Fork hasnt had star runners since Michelle Klasnic and Sam Hughes and i think that might be changing this year. Watch out for these two this year i believe they are gonna do some big things this year and surprise a lot of people.
Alex Mosely(Rock Hill)- Rock Hill hasnt really had a superstar since losing former state champion Hannah Robinson, and with her 12th place finish last year Mosely could be the next superstar for the Schhol. If she works hard she could probably get a top 5-7 to finish at state this year. She is never talked about and could defenitely surprise people this year with how good she could do throughout the season.
Evie Tate(Spartanburg)- Spartanburg is losing star runner Anna Todd this year and this will put more pressure on her to try and be state champion which she has a very good shot at doing this year. She is gonna work hard this year and i would watch out for her this year as a contender. Spartanburg is always a good team and i expect them to be good this year also led by Evie so watch out for her this year.
