Senior Chelsea Taylor is the lone senior on the women's track & field team and takes pride in providing support and leadership for the younger student-athletes on the team. Taylor is an Elementary Education major and is currently spending time teaching at a local school. On the track, Taylor is the Cougars only pole vaulter and is the indoor track & field school record holder in the event.

“Chelsea provides constant positive encouragement for the team and does a great job of helping with the team unity. She is a great leader and I want to see her finish her collegiate career on a high note.”

 Q: On the growth of the program since she has been here?

 A: “When I first started out as a freshman we only had one head coach and one assistant. We had a much smaller team. The program has grown so much and we are so much stronger and more balanced.”

Q: On being a student-athlete at the College of Charleston?

 A: “I feel like they do a great job providing for the student-athletes here. We have an amazing sports medicine program. We have academic advisors that are really helpful. I think our athletic department does a great job and I'm so thankful for that.”

 Q: On her role as the president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)?

 A: “I really enjoy being involved with this organization. It's a great way for student-athletes to get together and talk about any problems we are having in school, since we as student-athletes can relate to each other. I have a great time interacting with everyone and getting to know new people.”

Q: On her four years at the College of Charleston?

 A: “These four years have gone by so quickly. To be the only senior on the team, it's a neat experience, I feel like I have that experience to help the freshman and underclassmen. I share with them my experiences and help them learn and grow through their time here.”
