Stroud Earns All-Big South Honors And Is Voted Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year

ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop senior Jeanne Stroud captured All-Big South honors and was voted the Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year to highlight the men's and women's performances in the 2013 Big South Cross Country Championships that were held Saturday at VMI in Lexington, VA.

Stroud (Charleston, SC) covered the 5K course in a time of 18:45. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award was her second straight in cross country and extends her Big South academic awards to four straight as she received both the indoor and outdoor track Scholar-Athlete Awards last year.

Winthrop sophomore Colby Coulter (Lexington, SC) was named to the men's All-Academic Team while Stroud represented the Winthrop women.

The Winthrop women finished sixth while the Eagle men placed ninth in the 8K event.

The Liberty men and the Coastal Carolina women won the team titles while High Point's Patrick Crawford claimed the men's individual title and Runner of the Year honor, and Coastal's Letitia Saayman won the women's individual honor and Runner of the Year title.
