2014 Cross Country Schedule
ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop's 2014 men's and women's cross country schedule has been released by head coach
Ben Paxton and it features regular season meets that will be run in the Carolinas.
The 2014 season will open on August 29 in Boone, NC where Winthrop will compete in the Covered Bridge Open where the men will run a 5 kilometer distance and the women will compete in a two mile run. After running in the Big South Preview Meet on September 13 at Gardner-Webb, the Eagles will return home on September 20 to host the 28th annual Winthrop Invitational. Winthrop will run in two new meets during the month of October--the USC Upstate Invitational on Oct. 4 in Spartanburg, SC, and the College of Charleston Invitational, Oct. 18, in Charleston, SC. The 2014 Big South Conference Championship is set for November 1 at Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, NC. The NCAA Southeast Regional will be held two weeks later on Nov. 14 at a location yet to be determined. The 2014 NCAA Championship will be hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, IN on Nov. 22.
"This year's schedule features some new events for us," said Paxton. "We will have young teams this year and our schedule will give our athletes a chance to build some confidence as they develop and at the same time afford our fans the opportunity to follow our teams on the road as most of our away meets are within easy driving distance from campus."
