What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?
It is an honor to be chosen for the Shrine Bowl Run team and I am so grateful for the opportunity to help raise money for such an amazing organization.

What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
I knew that the Shrine Bowl Run gave some of the top runners in South Carolina a chance to help raise money for children receiving care from the Shriners Hospital.

What do you hope to experience on Dec. 20?
I am looking forward to seeing firsthand what we are supporting and what our small contribution means to the people we are helping.

How are you preparing to run with a football?
Well I’m a runner and a swimmer so I will definitely be taking a ball on some of my longer runs; the last thing I want to do is fumble the game ball!

How would you rate your senior season?
I have to give it a pretty high rating because I did everything I wanted to and more. I don’t have any regrets about this season and I grew a lot as an athlete and a person.

What future goals do you have?
I plan to attend college and then hopefully law school. After that I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
As of right now I am looking at schools in all three NCAA divisions. Even if I choose not to run for the varsity team I will definitely join a club team, this isn’t a sport that you can just drop.

How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I didn’t start running until my freshman year, but several members of my family are runners so I knew it was only a matter of time before I started running too.

Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
No.

How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
In my four years of cross country the times have gotten so much faster. This higher level of competition has been especially evident in SCISA as the girls get faster and the expectations get higher.

What was your motivation for your final XC season?
Because this was my last season my greatest motivation was what legacy I wanted to leave my team. I wanted to break my school record and encourage our young team while still raising the expectation for our girls in the years to come

If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would make sure every child in the world had one pair of running shoes. A lot of people don't understand that running does so much for you as a person; you can stay in shape, learn perseverance, and more people will know about the sport.
