Salute to seniors: Northwestern's Orlando Brown

What was you most memorable race/competition?
My most memorable race was the state meet because I love running with those guys and didn't know I was going that fast. I set a personal best by three seconds with a 1:56.82.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
I faced my biggest competition at the state qualifier because I got really boxed in and had to make a move late.

Out of all your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
Placing second at the state meet stands out the most because it was the biggest meet and I'm glad I did that well there.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
If I could change one thing I would have done cross country this year. With a base I would've done better at all my meets.

What was the most difficult obstacle you had to overcome?
Getting to know the race because it was my first year running the 800. Also probably mental blocks and nerves.

What will you miss the most?
I going to miss my teammates because they pushed me a lot and the coaches. I'm going to miss everyone I ran against too.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Work hard. If you work hard everything will come overtime.

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals?
They have pushed at practice and meets. They made me a better athlete and better person overall.

What are your college plans?
To definitely run cross country and work my way to a ring I should’ve gotten this year.

Shoutouts?
Shoutout to will manning for pushing me this season and offseason. My training partner Kole Koterba and Javon Foyt and Coach (Calvin) Hudgins for being throwing me in the 800 at Sandpaper Classic and being the best coach ever.
