Interview: Wade Hampton's Brooks Hovis chooses Anderson

Brooks Hovis talks with scrunners about signing with Anderson and his final outdoor season at the high school level. 

What made you decide to commit to Anderson?
 
The overall atmosphere of Anderson as well as the runners and Coach Licht's expectations for the program and me. 

What were your other top choices?
USC Upstate and Chatham University.

What do you hope to achieve in academics and athletics?
Receive my Bachelors in nursing and reach levels in running I never thought I could reach.

What did you experience during each visit? 
After viewing the campus, looking into the nursing program and meeting the runners...I just knew it was the right place. 

What would you recommend to others when choosing a college?
 
Making sure the college is everything your are looking for.

What does it feel like to have the decision made? 
It is a huge weight off of my shoulders.

What do you hope to achieve this spring? 
I hope to run a sub 4:20 mile and a sub 1:55 800.

Looking at your career at Wade Hampton, what will you remember the most?
My record breaking performance at Lake Murray this year.  

What individuals in your life were involved in helping you make the decision?
My Mom, Dad, Jeff Milliman, Ned Kennedy and Ben Boerma.
