What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Being my senior year and my last track season of high school my main focus is to get my times down as much as possible in the 3200, 1600, and 800. I would also like to try a few sprinting events in smaller meets as well.

How is winter training going?
I've had a very strong winter training and am very hopeful and excited to begin racing and hopefully see all my hard work pay off.

How long have you been running and how did you get started?
I have been running since my freshman year of high school. I started summer conditioning for Blythewood High School over the summer after eighth grade in order to get in shape and see how I liked running; I never went back.

Do you have a specific motivation?
On the days that I don't feel like training, I always remind myself that while I'm not running, someone else is.

Will you be competing out of state this season?
I have already raced in Charlotte once this season and am planning on competing in the David Oliver Classic in Winston-Salem as well. I also plan to run at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville this spring.

David Oliver will be my first real indoor track meet and I am very excited about the competition I will be facing as well as the experience I will get from such a large meet. I hope to go sub-10 in the 3200 on Friday night and sub 4:30 in the 1600 on Saturday.

Do you have a pre-race tradition?
Before any race I like to get out and warm up alone and away from others that are warming up. I put my earbuds in and try to clear my head completely so that I am able to go into the race without anything weighing heavy on my mind.

What race strategy works best for you?
I have learned over the years to always expect the unexpected in a race. I go into a race with the mindset that anything can happen and race and respond accordingly with the way the race plays out; whether it be leading out early or scoping out the field first.

What was your favorite cross country race in your high school career?
My favorite cross country race was the 2015 SCISA State Championship. Getting to see the whole teams hard work pay off with the third place team finish was an amazing feeling that I hope continues to motivate the runners of TSA for seasons to come.

Favorite running memory?
One of my favorite memories from my high school career was the running camp that the cross country team at Blythewood High School takes every August. We would go to a state park for 3 days and do trail runs and hill workouts. I always enjoyed the time we were able to spend together as a team on and off the trails.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?
When I'm not running I can typically be found hanging out with friends or just relaxing.

Tell us about traveling to Charlotte this past weekend. What was the experience like?
I was very excited going up to race in Charlotte this past week. The first racing experience after a long season of training is always a great feeling. Being an out of state meet I was able to see competition that I'm not accustomed to which is always fun.

Favorite quote?
My favorite quote is by Louis Zamperini. "I'd made it this far and refused to give up because all my life I had always finished the race."

If there is one thing you could do in the world what would it be and why?
I would love to have to opportunity to compete in other countries. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places so I would be able to combine this with my love of running and competing.
