Post and Courier: Runner balances religion and competition


COLUMBIA - Up three flights of stairs into Heathwood Hall School's main athletic facility, Judah Ellison and his father, Morris, are greeted by a navy blue sign with bold white letters.

HOSPITALITY ROOM, it says, so they open the door and walk into their home for the night.

The room smells strongly of fresh paint fumes. It's mostly empty except for a few miscellaneous items in the corners: a trophy case, a bag of soccer balls, a cardboard box of lacrosse helmets. A couple of tables, an unopened bag of Miss Vickie's chips, a stack of CDs.
