What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?
Making the Shrine Bowl Run team has been my goal from the start of the season because it means that I made through the entire season will full strength and health. I greatly look forward to helping the Shriners hospital because I have never been there before and I know that the hospital will appreciate it.
What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
My brother Myers McKinney was named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and had a great time. He told me all about it and it was instantly a goal for me.
What do you hope to experience during the event?
I hope to learn more about the Shriners hospital and have a good time with other dedicated senior runners.
How are you preparing to run with a football?
The Shrine Bowl Run will be the first time I will have run a long distance with a football. I will learn as I go.
How would you rate your senior season?
I was very happy with my senior season. 10 out of 10 satisfaction.
What future goals do you have?
I hope to have a strong track season and make it to state in the 800.
Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
No, I will be focusing on academics when I go to college.
How did you get involved with the sport and when?
My first exposure to running cross country were from my two brothers. One of them loved it and one of them hated it so I was a little conflicted when I decided to start cross country.
How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
Yes, there seems to be a lot more competition and energy in the sport than there was when I first started running.
What was your motivation for your final XC season?
I wanted to finish my senior year strong and I knew that XC would help me stay focused in school.
If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would learn to sing, have show and spend the check on my mamma. Because she's the real MVP.
