Dorman graduate Rowland opens collegiate indoor career with victory in Kentucky

Dorman alumnus Marcus Rowland, a freshman at Auburn University, opened his debut indoor season for the Tigers with a 60-meter victory at the Kentucky Invitational in Lexinton Saturday.

Rowland covered the sprint event in 6.66 seconds, a provisional indoor championships qualifying mark. Six-time All American Evander Wells (Tennessee) finished second. The NCAA automatic qualifying mark is 6.63 seconds.

Rowland was seeded fastest going into the finals (6.71).

Rowland's time ranks him third in Auburn history in the event, according to auburntigers.com. Former Olympians Coby Miller and Marc Burns hold the top two spots.
