What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?

I feel very honored to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team, and I am excited to be a part of running the football from the hospital. I love that we get to help the hospital as well and give back to the community.

What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
Several of my close friends ran last year in the Shrine Bowl, and they all had so much fun. They said it was cool to bond with runners from other teams and participate in running the football.

What do you hope to experience during the event?
I hope to meet new people and make an impact giving back to the hospital.

How are you preparing to run with a football?
I am preparing by throwing the football with my brother, Charlie.

How would you rate your senior season?
My senior season cannot be rated. The girls on the team were all wonderful. It will definitely be a season I will never forget.

What future goals do you have?
I want to become a nurse practitioner and be able to help patients along with building a relationship with them. I would love to travel and experience different cultures around the world. I eventually want to run a marathon and maybe do a trail run race.

Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
Yes, I will be continuing my running career at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.

How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I started running in eighth grade. I swam competitively year-round for five years and decided to try something new. A couple of my friends decided to start running the same year, too.

Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
I do not.

How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
I have seen many people being drawn to the sport of cross country. Runners are such great people, and each team is one big family. Running is also a great way to relieve stress and stay in shape.

What was your motivation for your final XC season?
My motivation was to have fun and enjoy all the little moments. I wanted to fully take in my fifth and final season.

If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would travel to every single country to fully experience life on earth. I love how each country is so unique and being able to meet and talk to people from another culture is fascinating to me.
