What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?

It's an honor to be given this opportunity and a blessing to be able to run.

What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
I've heard it's an honor given to the top senior runners in the state. The runners relay a football all the way to the Shrine Bowl football game.

What do you hope to experience during The Run?
I hope to have fun and make new friends with other runners that I've never met.

How are you preparing to run with a football?
I ran a warm-up at practice one day while carrying a ball.

How would you rate your senior season?
It was not my best season but still an amazing experience.

What future goals do you have?
Graduate college and get a masters degree.

Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
I will not be competing at the next level.

How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I got involved during my seventh-grade year. Both of my older sisters were on the team and I wanted to try it out.

Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the
Shriners Hospital?
No.

How have you seen the
sport change in the state? Please explain.
In my years running, I've noticed the teams get closer together. In my region, I've seen the teams talk to each other more at meets and have some fun. Despite being competitors, there isn't a lot of hostility between the teams.

What was your motivation for your final XC season?
I really wanted my team to win the state championship. The varsity team all helped push each other.

Letter: XC is About Much More than Championships

If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would travel all around the world. I believe there is so much to see outside of South Carolina and even outside of the United States. Being able to travel to different places would allow me to better appreciate what I often take for granted.
