SCRUNNERS Series: Standings after Week 1

The 2019 cross country season officially started this past weekend with a number of meets around the state.  This also means that the SCRunners Cross Country Series sponsored by Go-Green Events has also kicked off its scoring for the year.  With a few changes in the format and rules, the series is off and running.

Two meets highlighted the Series this weekend - the GTC Tiger Classic at Southside and the Trojan Invitational at Northwestern.  Since points were awarded to two meets there are a lot of ties, twenty-five in fact, in the individual standings and many in the team standings.  Many teams around the state opted not to compete this weekend.

Last year the boy's awards went to Brendan McTigue of St. Joseph's, Marlon Beldon of Beaufort and Zac Palmer of St. Joseph's.  Palmer was the only senior in the group.  The boy's team awards went to St. Joseph's, Beaufort and Eastside.

The top girls last year were Pippa Richter of AC Flora, Shannon Smith of Beaufort and Caroline Linen of St. Joseph's.  Richter is the lone graduate of the group.  The team awards went to J.L. Mann, James Island and Waccamaw.

This weekend there is only one meet scheduled for the series - the Eye Opener at the Milliken Research Center in Spartanburg.
