It was a moment Briana Williams would remember, as the high-school-aged sprinter made her professional debut for Nike at the Millrose Games in New York City on Saturday, very nearly stealing the show at 60 meters.

The Florida teenager, 17, ran a new personal record of 7.18 seconds, which is an improvement of 0.07 seconds from her previous best of 7.25 seconds her opener at the distance this year at Clemson University.

Williams flew out of the blocks and led for the first 30 to 40 meters before falling to third overall, behind Javianne Oliver (7.13) and Morolake Akinosun (7.16).

Meanwhile, in the New Balance girls 1-mile race, Northern High School senior Marlee Starliper, a North Carolina State signee, pocketed the fourth-best performance all-time, posting a time of 4:37.76. Only Mary Cain (4:28.25), Alexa Efraimson (4:32.15) and Katie Rainsberger (4:36.61) have run faster at the prep level.

Starliper broke away from second-place Juliette Whittaker (4:43.89) and third-place Taryn Parks (4:44.98).

Five athletes broke 4:50, including Jenna Hutchins (4:45.12) and Roisin Willis (4:49.63).
