This call came after a press briefing from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stating that all schools would continue distance learning throughout the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

According to the press release, The FHSAA will not grant additional eligibility for spring sport athletes.

On March 31, the FHSAA released a statement that detailed the continuance of the FHSAA staff to find creative solution for spring sports in Florida, even exploring the possibility of extending the season through June 30th.

Coaches, athletes and parents have been awaiting news on the future of this outdoor track and field season over the past month as all parties involved have adapted to social distancing protocol.

2020 marks the first year that the FHSAA has canceled any championships since 1922.
