Dominique Smith talks with Alex Shields on his signing with Kent State

First Academy senior Alex Shields announced his signing to Kent State on April 23.

Shields is a multi-time state champion in class 1A in the hurdles and jumps. Most recently he has seen success in the pentathlon and decathlon in the past year. As a star basketball player for First Academy, Shields had his season cut extremely short with only three competitions before the FHSAA canceled the remainder of the 2020 outdoor season.

The future golden eagle holds PRs of 13.84 for the 110mH, 38.08 for the 300mH, and 7.23m for the long jump just to name a few.

Florida MileSplit correspondent Dominique Smith caught up with Shields to talk all things senior year and his signing to Kent state.
