Empire Athletics Tamari Davis' performance at the 2017 FLYRA Middle School State Championships confirmed what we already knew -- she's incredibly talented in the short sprints. 

The then eighth grader, dominated the field in both the 100m and 200m earning wind-aided meet records at the IMG stadium with times of 11.34 (6.1) and 23.32 (4.6).

These races are one for the record books and had jaws dropping in the stands with the massive lead that Davis took from the starting blocks against her competitors. 

These races capped off her middle school career and slingshotted into a short, yet fruitful high school racing career for the Gainesville native.

Retrospective: Tamari Davis has gone on to become a multi-time FHSAA state champion in both the 100m and  200m and a two-time indoor national champion in the 200m distance in 2018 and 2019. Most notable, the junior signed with Adidas early in 2020 to become a professional track athlete and forewent her last two years of high school eligibility. She holds PRs of 11.13 for the 100m, 22.48 for the 200m, and 55.83 for the 400m.
