Vaughan, a senior, had this to stay about Saturday, "I'm excited to get to run this weekend with a lot of good runners. Our team is ready to get to compete this weekend."

Jeffcoat, a junior and 2019 meet winner (15:06), said prior to the race, "this weekend I want to break 15 and maybe come out with the win again. It's going to be difficult to win because Spain and others there are great runners. We came (in) second last year to Eastside and I think if it's the right day for Lexington we can come out with the team win as well."

2019 team scores: Eastside 106, Lexington 123

Lexington coach Bailey Harris said about the meet, "It's still really early in the season. I know when people think Lake Murray meet they focus on times. I'm more interested in us racing well and competing on a big stage. But regardless of the outcome , it's early. We want to stay healthy , run fast and keep improving."

Eastside coach Rob Henderson said about the meet, "I am really looking forward to seeing our team run at Lake Murray this weekend. Our kids love the course. We are very grateful to the meet directors for all their work in putting this meet on this year. Eastside is excited to see how we measure up to some great teams in the state."
