SCTCCCA Announces 2021 Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Changes

The SCTCCCA board announced changes to the 2021 track and field Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic format Sunday night.

"In an effort to reduce numbers at each location, we are going to go to a six site Coaches Classic Meet on March 27," the association said in a statement.

What's changed?

  • Schools assigned a site based on the county (see below)
  • Top 16 performances from across the sites will be invited to the Coaches Classic Elite Invitational on April 24 - site: to be announced.
  • SCTCCCA note on meet purpose - The purpose of Coaches Classic is to bring the best athletes in the state together regardless of classification. Over time the meet got so big that it has become hard for those non-elite athletes to participate. This will allow all athletes to participate, and create an environment for the elite athletes to come back together and compete.
  • Two entries per team in every event (even those events that were limited to one entry in the past). A third entry is still permitted if athletes meet the cut-off performance.Entry fees for the meets will be the same as before, with no extra entry fee for the elite meet.
