CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams will participate in one final race before Southern Conference Championships this weekend when the Cougars travel to Boone, N.C. for the Blue Ridge Open.
Hosted by Appalachian State, the race includes teams from 28 colleges, including five Southern Conference schools. The course is the Kennedy Trails course at State Farm Fields.
Junior Trevor Sprague led the men's team with a CofC record time of 25:42.2 to finish 18th at the Charlotte Invitational on Oct. 2. Sophomore Christian Bailey also ran well, finishing the 8k course in 26:10.5 for 30th place.
Six members of the women's team posted season bests in their last outings, helping the squad to a seventh-place finish at the Charlotte Invitational. Erin Stoddard placed 24th (18:35.6) and Kristen Wolfe finished 29th (18:44.0) in the 5k event.
The women's 5k will begin at 3 p.m. and the men's 8k will follow at 3:45 p.m.
