Mt. Tabor Alum Cameron Ponder Breaks 4:00 Mile


Furman junior Cameron Ponder broke the 4 Mile barrier for the mile for the first time in his career running 3:59.34 at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.  

He becomes the 12th North Carolina HS Track/XC athlete to break 4 minutes in their careers.

Ponder was paced by a teammate early, and ran the last 500m alone and was 10 seconds ahead of the field at the end of the race.  

He ranks 11th on the All-Time Boys Mile list currently, but at just 20 years old he's certain to move up throughout the rest of his career.

Ponder ran 4:04.24 to close out his high school career in the Mile which ranks 2nd all-time for North Carolina High School Track.
