CofC Closes Cross Country Season at NCAA Southeast Regionals

CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston men's cross country travels to Louisville, Ken. for the NCAA Southeast Region Meet on Saturday.

The Cougars finished eighth in the Southern Conference Championships on Oct. 31 in Elon, N.C. Junior Trevor Sprague and sophomore Eric Robertson paced Charleston, finishing 27th and 28th, respectively. Sprague's time of 26:26.96 was almost half a minute faster than his time at last year's conference championships. Robertson recorded a personal-best time of 26:27.19.

"We're giving the guys this opportunity because they've really put a lot of work in this season and earned it," said head coach Amy Seago. "Our team finish at the conference championships didn't really reflect how much we've accomplished this year."

The men's team set 10 of the Cougars' top 25 times in school history in 2009. Sprague broke the school record twice this year and is now the fastest runner in school history with a time of 25:42.20 at the Charlotte Invitational on Oct. 2. Additionally, eight of 10 runners set personal records this season.

The NCAA Southeast Regional is hosted by Louisville at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The men's 10,000-meter race begins at 10 a.m.
