Cross Country Signs Two For Fall

CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College head men's and women's cross country coach Thad Palmer, in conjunction with the athletics department, is pleased to announce the addition of two student-athletes for next year's incoming class.

Alex Thomas and Seth Warner have both decided to further their education while continuing their running careers at PC in the fall.

"I am very excited about Alex and Seth, " said Palmer. "They are talented runners, good students, and show high levels of dedication and commitment. They will be the foundation that allows us to compete within the Big South Conference."

Thomas will be joining the Blue Hose from Greenwood Christian School where she had an illustrious career under the direction of head coach Darren Ouzts. A six-time all-state selection in cross country, Thomas won the SCISA A-AA Individual State Championship three times while finishing runner-up once. She established her 5k personal record of 19:25 her senior year. A multi-sport athlete, she also ran track, played basketball, and soccer for the Lady Hawks. In track, Thomas is a two-time state champion in the 800m and won the 1600m once. She also has garnered several awards from her basketball and soccer teams including the "Total Release Award," "Most Improved," and "MVP."

Warner will be joining the Blue Hose from Fort Mill High School where he ran under the guidance of head coach Marc Pyrc.  Warner was voted team captain his senior year and established a 5k PR of 17:10. His team finished second at the 2008 4A State Championship and third in the state rankings during the 2007 and 2009 seasons. Warner was voted senior class president and attended Palmetto Boys State. He is a competitive road cyclist and duathlete. Warner won 2nd place at the NC State Criterium Championships in 2009.
