GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford men’s and women’s track teams competed at the 2010 Furman Invitational, setting two new school records and earning 10 top-three finishes.
Senior Elias Conits paced the men’s team with two first-place finishes. Conits recorded a time of 11.17 to finish first in the 100 meter dash and claimed the first-place spot in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.62.
Freshman Trey Parker and junior Andy Vess also earned top-three finishes for the Terriers. Parker turned in a time of 4:08.37 in the 1500 meter run to finish second in the event and Vess finished second in the javelin with a throw of 52.14 meters.
On the women’s side, freshman Andrea Kelsey set a new school and freshman record in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:33.89, beating her previous record by more than 25 seconds.
Fellow freshman Shelby Harris also established a new school and freshman record, recording a time of 18:33.90 in the 5000 meter run.
The Terriers will close the outdoor season April 24-25 at the Southern Conference Outdoor Track Championship, hosted by Appalachian State University.
