1970s two-mile champion Ian Davidson, Jr. recovering from colon cancer

1970s two-mile state champion Ian Davidson, Jr. is recovering from colon cancer, retired coach Bob Jenkins told scrunners.com.

Jenkins told scrunners.com Davidson is an Olympic marathon qualifier in 1979 and he is also a national mountain bike champion and XTerra world triathlete champion.

"He has learned that to truly be the best you can be: set a goal, do the work, reach the goal, reset and reload," said Jenkins. "What a role model for us all, but especially for the human beings you seek to reach."

Jenkins coached Davidson at Rock Hill as he won the Class AAAA event title in 1972.
