CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams get their seasons under way this weekend as they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Eye Opener at USC Upstate.
Teams competing for the men will be: Anderson, Belmont, Brevard Campbell, Carson-Newman, Catawba, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Clemson Running Club, Furman, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, Piedmont, Presbyterian, Southern Wesleyan, Spartanburg Methodist, Toccoa Falls, Truett-McConnell, USC Upstate and Wofford.
On the women's side teams competing will be Anderson, Brevard, Campbell, Carson-Newman, Catawba, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Clemson Running Club, Converse, Erskine, Furman, Georgia Southern, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, Piedmont, Presbyterian, Salem, Southern Wesleyan, Spartanburg Methodist, Toccoa Falls, Truett-McConnell, USC Upstate and Wofford.
CofC Head Coach Amy Seago said she is excited to see where her team is at after a good summer of training.
In the preseason conference poll leased last week the men's and women's teams were picked to finish 8th and 9th respectively, but Seago said she thinks the runners will outperform those rankings.
There are a lot of new faces on the men's and women's teams this year with a total of 12 freshmen.
The women's squad is set for an 8:00a.m. start in Spartanburg, while the men will toe the line at 8:30a.m.
