SC State Cross Country Teams Travel to Coastal Carolina

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State cross country teams will travel to Conway Friday (Sept. 17) to participate in the Coastal Carolina Invitational at the Quail Creek Golf Club. The 5K women's competition begins at 5:30 p.m., with the men's 6K set to start at 6:10.

Joining SC State and host Coastal Carolina in the field are Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Liberty, Limestone, UNC-Wilmington, USC-Aiken and Wingate.

The SC State women will be paced by junior Brittney Stewart, who two weeks ago was clocked in 19:46.84 to finish 20th among 48 participants at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, also a 5K event. Charles Kurgatt, also a junior, paces the men. He was 13th among 23 participants at USC with a time of 16:36.76.

Friday's event is the second match of the year for SC State, which will participant in five regular-season meets and the MEAC Championship during the 2010-11 campaign.
