CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Junior Christian Bailey set a new school record and the College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams placed seventh Friday at the Charlotte Invitational.
Bailey finished as the 16th collegiate in the race, running a new school record of 25:33.6 for the 8k race. The previous record was 25:44, set by Trevor Sprague at the Charlotte Invitational last year. Junior Alexander Hill, wasn't far behind Bailey as he finished 19th in 25:34.7.
On the women's side freshman Dena O'Brien placed 11th in a career-best time of 17:53.1 for the 5k race. Â Â
Across the board their was great performances for both squads. The men had a total of nine career-bests set, while six members of the women's team ran career bests.
The Cougars will not race next weekend, but will be back in action Oct. 15 for the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C.
